Glymp Drops
Glymp Drops is a twice-daily community event within the Glymp app. Every morning and evening, a shared prompt opens for a specific locality. Users physically present in that locality have a 6-hour window to post a Scene — a real photo or short video. When the Drop closes, the community votes and the best Scenes receive recognition.
Drops is Glymp's answer to a specific problem: the neighbourhood is full of real, interesting moments — the chai stall that transforms at dusk, the mural that appeared overnight, the pop-up that is only there on weekends — but these moments are invisible on existing platforms. Social media shows you the world. Drops shows you your street.
The 6-hour window is not a limitation — it is the design. Fleeting things demand presence. When content is always available, it never feels urgent. When a Drop is live for 6 hours and then closed, every Scene inside it carries weight: someone was there, in that locality, in that moment, and chose to share it. The ephemerality is what makes it real.
Location verification is the other critical design choice. Only users physically inside a locality's boundary during the active window can post a Scene. This cannot be gamed — you cannot post from your couch, schedule content, or post remotely. The result is a living, location-verified portrait of the neighbourhood at that exact moment in time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Scene in Glymp Drops?
A Scene is a photo or short video posted by a user inside an active Drop. It can be tagged to a specific place and labelled with a vibe tag — Food, Streets, Coffee, Art, or Nightlife. Scenes can be posted under a name or anonymously.
Why do Glymp Drops disappear after 6 hours?
The 6-hour window is intentional. Ephemeral content creates presence and authenticity — only people actually in the locality during the window can contribute, and only people who open the Drop during that window see it in full. This prevents accumulation of stale content and ensures everything inside a Drop is genuinely real and recent.
What recognition does a Drop give out?
Three Scenes are recognised when a Drop closes: Most Loved (highest community engagement), Hidden Gem (underrated scene with quiet local value), and Realest Scene (the most authentic local moment of the Drop).
Where is Glymp Drops available?
