You know your office. You know your flat. You know the chai stall downstairs and the vegetable vendor who already knows your order.
What you don't have yet is someone to call on a Saturday evening.
That's normal. Making friends as an adult in Mumbai is hard, and it's not because people here aren't friendly. Here's why it's harder than it should be, what actually works, and where Glymp Groups fits in. No promises that you'll find your people by Friday.

Why It's Harder Than It Should Be
Distance
Your college friends are in Thane. Your office friends live in Navi Mumbai. Meeting up is a two-train plan, so it happens once a month, if that.
Work eats the week
Long hours plus a long commute leave about one free evening. Nobody wants to spend it travelling an hour to meet people they barely know.
The WhatsApp group that never meets
You joined the building group, the alumni group, the running group someone added you to. They talk every day. Nobody ever says "Sunday, 7am, this gate."
Most apps are built for something else
Dating apps are for dating. Big event listings are one-off nights with five hundred strangers. Neither gives you the same ten faces every week.
What Actually Works
None of this is a Glymp idea. It's what tends to work for anyone who has moved to a new city.
Same people, same place, again and again
Friendships come from repetition, not one great evening. A weekly sketch walk will do more than three big parties.
Pick something you'd do anyway
If you'd go for a run on Sunday regardless, run with a group. You're not forcing small talk. You're doing your thing with people around you.
Keep it close
If it's more than 20 minutes away, you'll cancel the first time it rains. Something in Borivali or Kandivali beats something "better" in Bandra if you live in Borivali.
Go to the second one
The first time is awkward for everyone. The second time, people remember your name. That's where it starts.
Start in the daytime, somewhere public
A park, a café, a studio. Easier to walk into, easier to leave.
Where Glymp Groups Fits
Groups is a new part of the Glymp app. It's built for exactly the problem above: people nearby who like the same thing, making actual plans.
Here's how it works:
- 01
Find your interest
Dance, art, books, running, study, startups, food, photography, languages, volunteering and more.
- 02
Join a group
Public groups are open to anyone. Private groups are for members only.
- 03
See what's planned
Every plan has a time, a place, and the names of people going.
- 04
Show up
Go to one. Meet the regulars. Next time, you're one of them.
You don't need to bring a friend. That's the point.
Sunday Sketch Walkers
Public group · Arts & Crafts
Draw the neighbourhood, one Sunday at a time. Beginners very welcome.
Upcoming plans
- SUN7:30amSketch walk by the creek
- WED7pmCafé sketch night
Example groups, for illustration.
If there isn't a group for your thing near you, you can start one. That book circle that keeps saying "we should meet up" can finally put a date on it.
Groups
Find one plan near you this week.
Go to one. Then go to the next.
What It Isn't
We'd rather say this up front:
Straight answers, up front
What it is
What it isn't
- It's new. Some neighbourhoods have more groups than others right now. If yours is quiet, you might be the person who starts the first one.
- It's not a dating app. Groups are built around interests and plans, not matching.
- It won't make friends for you. It shows you where people are going and when. Showing up, twice, is still on you.
- It's Mumbai only, for now.
Your First Plan: A Few Practical Things
- Pick a plan at a public place, somewhere you'd happily be anyway.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going and when you'll be back.
- Arrive a few minutes early. It's easier to meet people one at a time than to walk into a full circle.
- Leave whenever you like. No explanation needed.
- If anything feels off, tell us at support@glymp.app.
One Thing to Try This Week
Open Glymp, go to Groups, and find one plan within walking distance of where you live.
Go to it. Then go to the next one.
