Spotted

Spotted is a feature in the Glymp app that lets users share local discoveries with their neighbourhood — a photo or video of something worth knowing about, tagged with a category and anchored to the user's location at the time of posting. The composer prompt is 'What did you spot?' — reinforcing that Spotted is about things you discover, not content you create.

Most valuable local knowledge never gets recorded anywhere. A new tailor who just opened on the lane, a chai stall that only runs on Thursday evenings, a parking spot nobody outside the neighbourhood knows about — these exist in the city but live only in the heads of the people who happened to find them. Spotted turns that tacit knowledge into a shared, location-anchored record that anyone in the locality can access.

Each Spotted post is tagged with one of ten categories — from New Opening and Food Spot to Useful Corner and Space & Vibe — that describe what was found, not how the poster feels about it. This makes Spotted content inherently useful and searchable: someone looking for a local service or a food recommendation can filter by category and find exactly what has been recently spotted nearby.

Unlike Glymp Drops, which are time-bound locality events that close after six hours, Spotted posts are permanent and continuously discoverable. They build a living map of each locality's commercial and community life — what is available, what is worth visiting, and what is hidden in plain sight for anyone who knows where to look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spotted on Glymp?

Spotted is a Glymp feature where users post photos or videos of local discoveries — tagged with a category that describes what was found — anchored to the user's current location. It surfaces local knowledge that would otherwise stay invisible: new openings, street vendors, food finds, useful corners, and more.

How is Spotted different from Glymp Drops?

Drops are time-bound locality events — they open twice a day, last six hours, and close. Spotted posts are permanent and continuously discoverable. Drops capture the mood and texture of a locality in a moment; Spotted captures specific, practical discoveries that have lasting value beyond when they were found.

What categories can I use in Spotted?

Ten categories: New Opening, Street Find, Food Spot, Local Product, Local Store, Local Service, Pop-up & Market, Experience, Useful Corner, and Space & Vibe. Each describes a different type of local discovery.
